We’ll help you feel at home abroad
Your housing is a critical component of your internship experience. Your living experience abroad is bound to be a little bit different from your living situation you are coming from, and we expect that. Experiencing a new cultural norm through an apartment or homestay accommodation will add to the overall cultural experience you have while living and interning abroad.
Above all else: your basic and safety needs must be met in order for you to thrive in your new environment. At World Internships, we provide a number of different housing options for you in different countries. Not all three options are available in all locations, so you will need to discuss this with one of our program advisors. Here is an overview of each of the three types of housing we offer that may be available to you:
Housing abroad can be a totally different experience than what you are used to in your home country. Interns have the opportunity to live in fully furnished apartments either on their own or with other interns, to get the feel of truly independent living in their new host country. All of our apartment housing is vetted by our experienced and professional onsite staff.
Interns staying in homestays get the chance to become integrated in the local culture by living and interacting with locals during the duration of their stay. Homestays always provide 2 meals a day, and a private room for interns. Prior to your arrival you will be given a complete profile of the family you will be staying with, with the option to contact them ahead of time. All homestay families have been carefully vetted by our experienced onsite team.
(internship placement only option)
If you don’t see your desired destination in this list, please check with one of our placement advisors to see if alternative arrangements can be made.
We want to be as flexible as possible with regard to your housing options. In the following countries, WI offers internship programs without housing: Australia, Canada, Ecuador, England, Italy, Morocco, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain and Vietnam.
*It is important to note, that while Independent housing can be a great option for those who want to find their own housing, World Internships can not help you find housing if you select Independent housing. We will want to know that you are staying in a safe and nearby location, but we will leave that entirely up to you to find and secure.
